More Than A Famous Castle on A Hill
San Simeon may be home to one of California's most well known landmarks Hearst Castle, but it is much more than that.
Spend time in this little coastal town and you will uncover some of its hidden treasures. Along the coast are the Northern Elephant Seals breeding grounds and the Piedras Blancas Lighthouse. There is also several Califronia State Parks to visit and camp at and from late December to Feburary you might catch a glimpse of a Grey Whale as they migrate from Alaska to their breeding grounds in Baja.
Of course the main reason most people viist San Simeon is Hearst Castle. This 165 room estate was built by William Randolph Hearst as an alternative to camping on the propery.
San Simeon is part of the Coast Unified School District and features 1 elementry school, 1 middle school, and 1 high school.
