Coastal Sand Dune Paradise

 This ocean town is part of the Five Cities area of South County and is the location of the Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area.

With a population of 7,260 people, Oceano features the only beach in California that you can drive a vehicle onto along with an offroad recreational vehicle highway.

Along with the dunes, Oceano also features horseback riding along the coast, a small craft airport, and the Great American Melodrama, a small vaudeville theater that features performances from professional thespians.

Oceano is part of the Lucia Mar Unified School District which features 11 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, and 2 high schools.
